The end of the line …
My baby graduated from college this past Saturday.
In many ways it was a day of goodbyes … no more following the band … hard to imagine that she may never twirl her flag again except in her dreams and when the urge strikes her to take the pole out of the closet to see if she can still spin … and hopefully no more calls from the emergency room for the inevitable injuries …
But it was an odd day since she has a summer Math class and internship to complete and technically doesn’t finish her requirements until August…. and she’s staying in her off campus apartment until July 31 – making it a bit peculiar.
More importantly, it is a time when she is starting to make decisions that will carry her away from her parental home. It’s a change that will be bitter sweet – for despite the amount of energy our relationship seems to take and give, it’s time to turn her loose and let her fly.
She’s nervous … so am I. But I have a feeling that she will truly soar!
